BRUSSELS, 27 July 2017 (PPI Europe) - The Korea Trade Commission (KTC) has launched an anti-dumping investigation into coated paper imports from Finland, Japan and China. The inquiry follows a complaint from paper producers Hansol Paper, Korea Paper and Hongwon Paper, who claimed that the Korean market has been damaged by dumping from the three countries.

The investigation is focused on coated paper in a basis weight range of 55-110 g/m2, in either sheets or rolls.

The grade is mainly used for printing commercial flyers, magazines and textbooks and is classified under the tariff codes of 4802.55.1090, 4802.57.1090, 4810.13.1000, 4810.14.1000, 4810.19.1000 and 4810.22.0000.

The investigation will cover the period between January 1 and December 31, 2016, and material injury to the domestic industry will be examined from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2016.

A preliminary ruling is expected by the end of the year.

According to the KTC, in 2016 the market for coated paper in Korea was worth some Won 500 billion ($443 million), 30% of which was imports from Japan, China and Finland
